152 premiery płytowe lipca (i jedyna Moor Mother)

Spóźniłem się z listą premier miesiąca, ale to niezła okazja, żeby zająć się przy okazji nową Moor Mother. Bo choć z przerażającą regularnością nagrywa ciekawe płyty, to Jazz Codes jest najpełniejszą wypowiedzią Camae Ayewy w ogóle. Brzmi trochę tak, jakbyśmy zamiast biletu na koncert kupili wejściówkę do jej wyobraźni, gdzie znajdziemy:
– trochę partii improwizowanych granych przez zaprzyjaźnionych muzyków (Keir Neuringer, Nicole Mitchell);
– hiphopowe beaty i poetyckie deklamacje samej bohaterki (świetnie czującej się blisko konwencji hiphopowej, jak w 700 Bliss, z którym wystąpi na Unsoundzie, czy w duecie z Billym Woodsem; tutaj jest kapitalny YUNGMORPHEUS);
– elementy R&B (z Melanie Charles brzmi to jak Erykah Badu za najlepszych czasów);
– sporo polityki (Joe McPhee opowiadający o faszystach na ulicach USA itd.);
– a wreszcie kapitalną pracę producencką autorki, która sprawia, że w ciągu sekundy dzieje się tu tak dużo, i to na wielu planach (słuchawki nie będą złym pomysłem dla tej wrzącej polifonii).  To jest zresztą niezły sposób na wieczne rozproszenie dzisiejszych czasów: nagrać zestaw utworów pulsujących zmianą, gęstych i zaskakujących co rusz czymś nowym, ale nagrać go tak, jak się gra dobry set didżejski: nanizać jeden fragment za drugim, skręcając z nich w ścisłym oplocie jedną 43-minutową opowieść, z której naprawdę trudno się wyłączyć. Wielu artystów szuka nowej formuły albumu z muzyką rozrywkową – na miarę czasów – ale Moor Mother się udało. I moim zdaniem trudno znaleźć dla tej płyty prosty punkt odniesienia – najlepszym, jaki przychodzi mi do głowy, są pierwsze, kolażowe płyty Soft Machine. Odmienne stylistycznie, ale bliskie formalnie. Także poszatkowane do granic abstrakcji, ale zarazem poklejone w płynną całość. Ta ma finał, który jest rodzajem artystycznego credo, dość zresztą wzruszającego: o tym, jak ludzie porzucili jazz i że być może to dobrze, bo wobec wystudiowanych gestów muzyki kapitalistycznego rynku przechował swoją żywiołowość, którą można odkryć na nowo. Z miejsca na listę płyt roku.
